Home Energy Audits PDF Print E-mail

A home energy audit uses state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to improve your home’s energy efficiency. It begins with an inspection of your home from top to bottom. Measurements and data collection are taken to document the building and then entered into computer modeling software. The home’s dimensions, type of heating and cooling equipment, levels and quality of insulation, and air barrier integrity are analyzed by the software to compare how it uses energy.

Improvement options are also entered into the package to create scenarios of the impact various improvements will have. A final report is produced to help you make informed decisions about what measures you need and want to take now to improve your comfort and save money by saving energy.

We use a variety of tools in the diagnostic process:

Blower Door
   - to measure the extent of air leakage in the home

Manometers
  - to measure pressure differences while determining air leakage and locations

Carbon Monoxide Detectors
   - measures CO levels in the ambient environment as well as at combustion appliances

Gas Leak Detectors
   - to check for gas leaks

Infrared Cameras
   - to help reveal hard-to-detect areas of air infiltration and missing insulation.
